The major function of immune system is to protect infections. The immune systems are composed of innate and adaptive immunity. In adaptive immunity, the cellular and humoral components interact each other. Neonates and infants are infected frequently, because immune systems are naive and easy to expose to infectious agents. The complete history and physical examination is essential to evaluate the... |

Purpose : Cytokines found at a inflammatory site may be a good indicator of clinical severity of an infectious inflammatory disease. We assayed interleukin 6(IL-6) concentrations in cerebrospinal fluid(CSF) from patients affected with viral meningitis, and verified the relationship between IL-6 and inflammatory parameters and whether IL-6 can be used as a diagnostic marker in the diagnosis of viral meningitis.

Purpose : Microdeletion of chromosome 22q11.2 are associated with DiGeorge syndrome(DGS), velocardiofacial syndrome(VCFS) and conotruncal anomaly face syndrome(CTAFS). DGS was originally described as an immunodeficiency disorder secondary to impaired T cell production due to thymic aplasia or hypoplasia. But the frequency & severity of immunodeficiency of other clinical syndromes associated with the chromosome 22q11 deletion has not been investigated. This... |

and IL-4 involve in IgE synthesis, IL-6 is an autocrine growth factor for the proliferation of
mesangial cells. We studied association between serum cytokines and of nephrotic syndrome.
Methods : We measured serum IL-6, IL-4, IFN-Υ, CD23 in 14 children with nephrotic syndrome

Purpose : Although the etiology and pathogenesis of child with nephrotic syndrome remains uncertain, it has been suggested from indirect evidence that this syndrome may represent deficiency in T-cell function and abnormal humoral immune response to antigens or immynoglobulin. Children with nephrotic syndrome are susceptible to pneumococcal infection. Now, we performed this study to evaluate pneumococcal anticapsular antibody concentration and... |

Transient myeloproliferative disorder has been reported in infants with Down syndrome.
Infants with Down syndrome and this transient myeloproliferative disorder often present
with signs and symptoms that are clinically and hematologically indistinguishable from
congenital acute myelogenous leukemia. In contrast to congenital AML, complete clinical and
hematological recovery occurs within weeks to months of diagnosis without any specific anti-
leukemic treatment.
A case of transient myeloproliferative disorder... |
