Purpose : Recurrent apnea of prematurity is a very common and troublesome problem despite treatment with aminophylline, and is often associated with a poor developmental outcome. Recently doxapram, a potent respiratory stimulant in adults, has been used to overcome idiopathic apnea of prematurity.
