Ceftriaxone, a third-generation cephalosporin, is a very potent, broad spectrum antibiotic commonly used in patients with meningitis, osteomyelitis, pyelonephritis, Lyme disease and many other severe infectious diseases. Up to 46% of those receiving this antibiotic develop gallbladder sludge.
