More recently, several studies have been repotted about the abnormalities of auditory brainstem response (ABR) in hyperbilirubinemia of newborn. By using of ABR, visual evoked potenital and nuclear magnetic resonance techniques, some investigators suggested that transient alteration in ABR in severely jaundiced neonates indicated reversible transient subclinical or clinical bilirubin induced neurotoxicity.
