Clinical observation has been made on 125 cases of severe type of encephalitis admitted and treated at the pediatric department of Chonnam University Medical School Hospital during the period of 1954 to 1968. Glutamine and Total Amino Acid Levels in Cerebrospinal Fluid of Encephalitis Patients

Levels of glutamine and total amino acids in cerebrospinal fluid increased in comatous encephalitis patient compared with normal children. However, the increased levels returned to normal in the recovery stage. The administration of hydrocortisone did not effect the amino acid pattern observed in encephalitis.
