Abstract
A comparison of neurological examination of the two groups of normal full term spontaneous delivery and normal full term vacuum extracted delivery shows following findings in 72 hrs. after birth. 1.Recovery of muscle tone is better in vacuum extracted delivery than in spontaneous delivery through moro reflex, forearm flexor response, scarf sign, grasping reflex, crossed extension reflex, trunk incurvation reflex and horizontal suspension. 2.An approximate order of appearance are scarf sign, moro reflex, forearm flexion response, grasping reflex, crossed extension reflex and trunk incurvation reflex. 3. Trunk incurvation reflex and crossed extension reflex are not good enough reflexes to evaluate birth shock because it is very difficult to elicits. 4.The direction of the face is same with the direction of cephalhematoma usually.
