Abstract
Clinical observation was made on 11 cases of meningeal leukemia out of 146 cases leukemia during 10 years from 1962 to 1971 at department of pediatrics, Seoul National University Hospital. 1. Sex ratio of male: female was 9:2. Considering the sex ratio the total leukemic children in Korea (male: female=3 : 1), the predominance in male is not significant. 2. The peak age was 5 to 9 years. 3. The incidence according to the types of lenkemia: 6 cases in acute lymohccytic leukemia and 3 cases in acute myelocytic. 4. The time interval between the diagnosis and lenkemia to the onset of meningeal lenkemia was average 8 months and 22 days. 5. Common chief complaints were headache (10 cases) and nausea and vomiting (8 cases), papilledema and neck-stiffness or Kernig’s sign were positive in half of the cases. 6. The characteristic CSF findings of meningeal lenkemia was pleccytcsis. The CSF glucose level and the protein level was variable.
