Abstract
A case of acute cerebellitis in a 6 year and 8 month-old male was presented. The patient was admitted with the chief complaints of gait ataxia, inability to sit and stand alone after awaken from bed since the morning of admission day. Six days prior to admission, fever, anorexia, and malaise developed and soon after followed by pruritic maculo-papular rashes on the trunk, face, and extremities. Two days before admission he complained of mild headache and vomiting and the previous rashes formed crust. So his parents made him rest at home without any treatment. At the time of admission, almost all the cerebellar function was impaired and laboratory data were within normal range except the mild pleocytosis (80 cells/mm3, lympho: 44)in CSF. He was discharged by himself with mild unsteady gait but without any support on the 15th admission day and recovered completely 5 weeks after initial appearance of neurological symptoms. The authors presented this, case and reviewed the referential literatures on the acute cerebellitis.
