Abstract
The levels of serum calcium and inorganic phosphorus were studied in 50 pairs of umbilical cord and maternal blood at parturition and further more I try to compare statistically with each other. The reuslts obtained were summarized as follows: 1) The mean serum calcium levels of cord and maternal blood were 10.52±0.81 mg% and 9.23±1.16 mg% respectively. The mean serum calcium level of cord blood was significantly higher than that of maternal blood(P<0.01). 2) The mean serum inorganic phosphorus levels of cord and maternal blood were 6.32± 0.81 mg% and 4.24±0.83 mg% respectively. The mean serum inorganic phosphorus level of cord blood was significantly higher than that of maternal blood (P<0.01). 3) The mean serum calcium levels of cord blood in full term infant, male, younger mother and primipara were higher than those of opposite conditions. 4) The mean serum inorganic phosphorus levels of cord blood in full term infant, female, younger mother and primipara were lower than those of opposite conditions.
