Abstract
In neonatal period, there is a rapid increament of renal function. About this issue, there were many studies in fullterm infants. But it is rare in preterm infnats in Korea. From April to September in 1983, prosepctive study was done for the evaluation of correlationship between the gestational age and development of renal function in 14 preterm infants. The results were as follows. 1) The distribution of gestational age was from 31.3 to 36 weeks and mean was 34.3±1. 17 weeks. 2)Birth weight was from 1.55 to 2.39 kg and mean was 2.04±0.21 kg. 3)B.U.N. was 6.35±3.03 mg/dl. 4)Serum creatinine concentration was 0.78±0.10 mg/dl. 4)24hour urinary excretion of creatinine was 10.4±3.64 mg/kg/24hr. The correlation coefficiency between the gestational age and urinary creatinine output was 0.146 and the regression formula for the former (X) against the latter (Y) was Y= —5.163 + 453 x. There was no statistical significance in r value. (p>0.1). The correlation coefficiency between the birth weight and urinary creatinine output was 0.25 and the regression for mula for the former (X) against the latter (Y) was Y= 1.951 + 4.31 x. There was no statistical significance in r value (p>0.1). 6) Creatinine clearance was 22.2±8.53 ml/min/1.73 m2. The correlation coefficiency between the gestatioonal age and Ccr was 0.375 and the regression formula for the former (X) against the latter (Y) was Y= — 71.636+2.734 X. There was no statistical significance in r value (P>0.1). The correlation coefficiency between the birth weight and Ccr was 0.41 and the regression formula for the former (X) against the latter (Y) was Y= —10.279+15.916 x. There was no statistical significance in r value (p>0.1). 7)24hr urinary creatinine excretion and creatinine clearance were higher with statistical significance in over 34 weeks of gestational age group than under 34 weeks (p<0.05 and p<0.01). 8)24hr. urinary creatinine excretion and creatinine clearance were not different significantly between less than 2,000 gm of birth weight group and over 2,000 gm (p>0.05).
