Abstract
A clinical study was conducted to determine the frequency and degree of pulmonary infiltration in patients with rotaviral gastroenteritis. Thirty-three children with Rotazyme test positive gastroenteritis were enrolled in the study group, who had been admitted to the Pediatric Department of Kyungpook National University Hospital from September, 1983 to December, 1983. The following results were obtained: Vomiting and signs/symptoms of upper respiratory infection seemed to be not helpful in distinguishing gastroenteritis due to rotavirus from other acute non-bacterial gastroenteritis. Chest XTay revealed pulmonaty infiltration in 19 out of 33 children (57.5%). However, the degree and frequency of the pulmonary infiltrations were similar both in Rotazyme positive and negative children.
