Abstract
To determine the proper age of the measles vaccination, we must know the time when the passively transferred measles antibody from mother disappeared. Because it can be a major factor for vaccine failure to take the measles vaccine to the children who still have the passive immunity. We measured the degree of immunity of 50 children with the age between 6 to 15 months to measles virus by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The results were as follow:1) 36.0% (18/50) of the children was positive for measles IgG antibody and 10.0% (5/50) was positive for measles IgM antibody. 2) High titer (over 1 : 1,280) of IgG antibody was detected in 77.8% (14) among the IgG positive children (18). 3) Pyage group, 2 of 20 children with the age between 6 and 9 months were positive for IgG antibody. However, 7 of 15 children with the age between 10 and 12 months and 8 of 10 children with the age between 13 and 15 months, which was excluded the children with the age of 14 months, were positive for IgG antibody, which showed increasing positiveness of IgG antibody with increasing of age. But 3 of 5 children with the age of 14 months were living in the rural area(Wonju, Kangwondo) and all were negative for IgG antibody. 4) 3 children were positive both IgG and IgM antibody. 5) There was no characteristic dsitribution of IgM antibody by age.
Key Words: Measles antibody.
