Abstract |
We studied the cyclophosphamide-induced hemorrhagic cystitis in 72 cases of acute lymphocytic
leukemia or Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, which had been treated at Seoul National University Children'
s Hospital from June, 1985 to May, 1988
1) Among 72 cases treated with cyclophosphamide, 6 cases(12.8%) developed hemorrhagic cystitis
in 47 cases of acute lymphocytic leukemia and 2 cases(8.0%) in 25 cases of Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
2) The development of hemorrhagic cystitis was not related to the dose of cyclophosphamide or the
hydration during therapy but the symptoms were mild in the cases hydrated during therapy.
3) The hemorragic cystitis developed within 30 days after therapy except 1 case, and developed
after first or second administration of cyclophosphamide. Therefore the risk of hemorrhagic cystitis
seems to be high in early period of therapy.
4) The all cases of hemorrhagic cystitis were improved without complications or sequalae and the
recurrence was absent in all cases after readministration of cyclophosphamide. But it will be
necessary to follow up for long time. |
