Abstract |
Cyclosporin A has highly selective immunce suppressive action through inhibition of the production of interleukin 2 by helper T-cells.
A case of dermatomyositis remitted with cyclosporin A in a 2-year-old girl is reported. She was admitted due to progressive weakness of lower extremities and facial flushing. The diagnosis was made by typical clinical findings with aids of laboratory data, electromyographic and muscle biopsy findings. Initially her clinical syptoms and laboratory findings were improved with oral steriod medication (2mg/kg/day in four divided dose) and physiotherapy, but progressively aggrevated again 2 weeks after the begin of sterioid maintenance therapy (1mg/kg/day).
So, we tried cyclosporin A combined with alternate day prednisolone therapy (1mg/kg), then she was remitted without any complication. A brief review of related literatures has been done. |
