Abstract
The author studied the problems whether antidiuretic activity appears in the rabbit serum and also observed the influences of hepatic damage induced by CC1< and premedication with prednisolone on this activity. Korean white male rabbits weighing 1. 8 kg were gavaged with 2% sodium chloride solution, 100 ml 3 times hourly for hydration before experiment. The results were as follows: 1) Sera obtained from the rabbits 5 min, 10 min and 20 min after pitressininjection, were given intravenonsly to normal rabbits which were loaded with water 3 times Per Os. Rapid and marked reduction of urine volume were noted in the group of rabbits treated with serum in 10 min ofter pitressin injection while in the cases treated with sera in 5 min, 20 min and 30 min. no change has been shown. 2) No remarkable change of urine volume after pitressin injection was observed in the group of rabbits previously treated with carbon tetracholoride and also antidiuretic activities could hardhy be observed in this sera. 3) A decrease of urine volume was demonstrated by pitressin injection in case of prednisolone treated rabbits however it was not remarkable as in normal rubbits. Antidiuretic activitis in this sera in these group were also rather weak than in the mormal. Judging from the results of these experinents, antidiuretic substances appeared secondarily in therabbits seraafter pitressin injection and were seemed to be formed mainly in the liver. It is also presumed that prednisolone is suppressive in the formation of antidiuretic substanceces.
