Abstract
A clinical and statistical study was performed on 43 neonates of hyperbilirubinemia due to ABO incompatibility who were admitted to department of pediatrics of Won-kwang University hospital from May 1987 to June 1988. The following results were obtained: 1) The incidence of hyperbilirubinemia within 48 hrs were 30.3% in the incompatible group and 10. 2% in the compatible group. So, hyperbilirubinemia was appeared earlier in the incompatible group significantly (p<0.01). 2) Onset of hyperbilirubinemia in the incompatible group (2.4±1.1 days) was earlier than the compatible Group (3.2±2.3 days) significantly (p<0,01). 3) Mean peak bilirubin level in the incompatible group (13.9 ±3.7 mg/dl) was higher than the compatible group (12.0±0.4 mg/dl) significantly (p<0.01). 4) In the incompatible group, mean duration of hyperbilirubinemia was longer, mean day of peak bilirubin was appeared earlier than the compatible group. But, there were not significant statistically. 5) The mean rate of fall of serum bilirubin during phototherapy was not different between two groups. 6) There were no difference of onset of hyperbilirubinemia, mean duration of hyperbilirubinemia, mean peak bilirubin level and mean day of peak bilirubin between OA and OB group of incompati- bility.
