Jin-Hwa Moon
Clin Exp Pediatr. 2020;63(11):422-428.   Published online May 26, 2020
· The nervous systems of children are more vulnerable to the effects of electromagnetic waves than adults.
· The exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMFs) among children should be minimized.
· According to International Agency for Research on Cancer EMFs are possibly carcinogenic, it should not be overlooked or interpreted with bias.

Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome in young people, from childhood to young adulthood: relationships between age and clinical and electrophysiological findings
Hae Jung Jung, Hwang Young Ju, Myung Chul Hyun, Sang Bum Lee, Yeo Hyang Kim
Clin Exp Pediatr. 2011;54(12):507-511.   Published online December 31, 2011
Purpose

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the characteristics of electrophysiologic studies (EPS) and radiofrequency ablation (RFA) performed in subjects aged less than 30 years with Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome, particularly pediatric patients under 18 years of age, based on our experience.

Methods

Two hundred and one consecutive patients with WPW syndrome were recruited and divided to 3 groups according to...

Results of radiofrequency catheter ablation in children and adolescent with tachyarrhythmia
Young Beom Chang, Seung Hyun Lee, Eun Young Kang, Kyoung-Suk Rhee, Chan Uhng Joo
Clin Exp Pediatr. 2007;50(11):1085-1090.   Published online November 15, 2007
Purpose : Radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) has become an effective therapeutic modality for treating pediatric tachyarrhythmias. Using conventional RFCA catheters, ablation of parahisian accessory pathways may be difficult and have high risk for heart block. We reviewed the efficacy and complications of the RFCA in children and adolescent with arrhythmias including parahisian accessory pathways. Methods : We studied 48 patients...
The Effectiveness of Propofol on Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiologic Study
Woo Saeng Park, Myung Chul Hyun
Clin Exp Pediatr. 2001;44(7):773-777.   Published online July 15, 2001
Purpose : Our purpose was to evaluate the effectiveness of propofol on pediatric cardiac catheterization or radiofrequency catheter ablation. Methods : We measured the serial changes of arterial oxygen saturation, heart rate, systolic and diastolic blood pressure at 4 stages, a baseline(during normal sleep), stage 1(just after loading of propofol 2 mg/kg over 10 minutes), stage 2(10-15 minutes after propofol continuous...

Clin Exp Pediatr. 2000;43(2):210-215.   Published online February 15, 2000
Purpose : RFCA has been proven to be an effective and safe tool for treating different kinds of tachycardia in adults. This study was designed to analyze the efficacy of this method in children and adolescents. Methods : Seventy-eight patients referred to Gachon Medical School, Gil Hospital for ablation of supraventricular(SVT) and ventricular tachycardia(VT) between January 1997 and February 1999 were...

Clin Exp Pediatr. 2000;43(2):203-209.   Published online February 15, 2000
Purpose : To find out the efficacy, safety and early complication of radiofrequency catheter ablation(RFCA) in pediatric patients with paroxysmal tachycardia, we compared short-term results of RFCA in pediatric patients to adult patients. Methods : We studied 25 patients(11 pediatric patients, 14 adult patients), who underwent RFCA due to paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia(PSVT) or idiopathic ventricular tachycardia(VT) from November 1997 to August...
Treatment of Supraventricular Tachycardia by Catheter Ablation Using Radiofrequency Currents in Children and Adolescents
Sung Jae Lee, Mi Jin Jung, Dieter Gonska
Clin Exp Pediatr. 1998;41(2):186-191.   Published online February 15, 1998
Purpose : Catheter ablation using radiofrequency currents have been proven to be an effective and safe tool for the treatment of adult patients with accessory atrioventricular pathways. This study was designed to analyze the efficacy of this method in childern and adolescents. Methods : Using radiofrequency currents, cathether ablation of an accessory pathway was performed in 54 patients(mean age 11.8 years)...

Clin Exp Pediatr. 1997;40(9):1258-1264.   Published online September 15, 1997
Purpose : Although the data of radiofrequency catheter ablation(RFCA) of supraventricular tachycardia in adults has been accumulated in several centers in Korea, few data are available on its efficacy and safety in pediatric ages. We reviewed the data in young patients who underwent this procedure in a pediatric cardiology center, to evaluate the indications, early results, complications, and short-term follow-up data. Methods : We retrospectively...

Catheter Ablation of Atrial Flutter Using Radiofrequency Energy in a Child :A Case Report
Jae Kon Ko, In Sook Park, Young Hwee Kim, Chang Yee Hong, Jae Joong Kim, You Ho Kim
Clin Exp Pediatr. 1996;39(10):1455-1460.   Published online October 15, 1996
Atrial flutter is a potentially life threatening complication of repair or palliation of congenital heart disease and is frequently drug resistant. Recent studies in human have demonstrated that common type atrial flutter is due to macro-reentry in the right atrium and that the reentrant circuit may involve slow conduction in the low posteroseptal area of the right atrium. Catheter ablation of atrial flutter has...
