Abstract
Clinical and environmental studies were made on 60 cases of bronchial asthma patients who were admitted to the Koryo General Hospital from July 1985 to June 1986.
Results
were as follows: 1) The peak age of onset was below 6 years of age, 76.7% of total cases being included. 2) Bronchial asthma occurred most common in fall (38.3%), especially in September (15%). 3) Eosinophilia was noted in 58.3% and IgE level above 250 IU/ml was noted in 62.5%. 4) Positive reaction in 40 patients with prick skin test was 85%. Allergens with positive reaction were dust in 75%, pollen in 30%, mould in 17.5% and food in 12.5%. 5) RAST positive rate was 68.8% in 32 patients. Allergens with positive reaction were D. pteronys- sinus in 65.5%,.D. farinae in 50.0% and house dust in 53.1%. 6) The agreement rate of D. pteronyssinus was 81.3% and that of house dust was 68.8%, which were higher than those of other allergens.
